Chapter & Convocation 2010 is underway

Members and guests of the OEF are gathered in Cedarbrake Retreat Center in Temple, Texas, for the annual Chapter and Convocation.

The group arrived Thursday, June 17, and began with introductions and worship. The Chapter (business) sessions began this morning (Friday). In the photo above, Minister General Nancy Menning (left) listens as representatives from other orders bring their greetings.

Principle of the day

4. As the successors to the original "brothers and sisters of penance" (the original name of the Third Order), and motivated by the dynamic power of the gospel, let us conform our thoughts and deeds to those of Christ by means of that radical interior change which the gospel itself calls "Conversion". Human frailty calls us to strive for this conversion daily.

Keith Downey : Today is also Ascension Thursday, the day Christ Ascended into heaven. Within 10 days will be Penticost, the sending of the Holy Spirit. Let us send up prayers of praise and thankgiving for these two events that take place yearly.
Thomas Berge : May 9th is the feast day of Saint Gregory of Nazianzus in the Anglican Communion. As a classically trained orator and philosopher he is widely considered the most accomplished rhetorical stylist of his era. He is revered as one of the Three Holy Hierarchs, along with Basil the Great and John Chrysostom. His defense of the doctrine of the Trinity made him one of the greatest champions of orthodoxy against Arianism.
